Jostle, OpenSSL's new Java Cryptography Provider for JVMs 8 to 25+, with FIPS support
JOSTLE provides a JCA provider for Java Virtual machines from Java 8 through to Java 25. I will discuss supporting a wide range of JVMs introduces with topics such as distributing and loading native libraries, strategic use of multi-release jars, managing the lifecycle of off heap memory allocations, error handling, sources of entropy, strategies for resolving the impedance mismatch between OpenSSL and the JCA.I will also discuss where and how JOSTLE can be extended along with testing strategies and how the application of strict design rules makes leveraging AI coding tools more viable and safer to use.I will supply examples where relevant and a short summary of how people can get hold if it.
